One question wine vendors like LavoWine get a lot is the fact that wines taste and smell like so many different things and not simply grapes.

The more you consume wine, the longer you begin to notice subtle flavors such as vanilla, spice, tobacco, tropical fruits or even ocean air. We know a winemaker doesn’t really incorporate spices or seawater into a wine, and how does the wine wind up inheriting those flavors?

Grapes are an incredibly impressionable and fruit. Each decision the winemaker creates throughout the procedure, from how and where the grapes are grown, to what occurs to them once they’re juiced, affect how the wine tastes and smells at the end.

We know a winemaker doesn’t actually add spices or seawater to a wine, so how does the wine end up inheriting those tastes?

There is a saying among winemakers the best wine starts in the vineyard. Very good farming equals great wine, and it’s at this point where the grapes also come in contact with components which may impact the wine ultimate characteristics. Most insects are essential to the health of grapes, but probably none are more significant than bees. Since the grapes develop in a vineyard surrounded by crops such as wild herbs, flowers and grasses, the bees fly round the vineyard dispersing pollen, and the grapes ripen they consume the subtle taste characteristics from these types of plants.

Components such as the air can also have an influence on the taste of the blossoms as they develop. In many areas of the world, like Spain and Greece, a lot of the white wine has been increased on cliffs which overlook the sea. As the waves crash into the rocks and spray salt water into the atmosphere, the saline air becomes absorbed by the grapes as they ripen, including a yummy minerality to the blossoms that can flavor and smell as a fresh sea breeze.

After the blossoms transition out of the vineyard to the cellar, each decision the winemaker creates has an effect on the general flavor. How the winemaker chooses to press the berries, whether the winemaker wishes to age the fermented juice or oak, and how long the winemaker lets the wine sit these vessels all assist in imparting unique flavors and aromas into a wine.

With each these factors with an impact on the general taste and odor of this wine, it’s no wonder that so many people pick up different attributes when tasting and smelling the same wine. It is one of the things which makes drinking wine so much pleasure.

Now that you know how does the wine tastes came from. If you are interested to learn more about wine varieties including red wine, rose wine, sweet wine or other alcohol, then do see LavoWine, the major wine shop in Malaysia.
